The ABBA List nonprofit mission is: Transforming Lives. The ABBA List has three programs: The Resource Website, CAST – Chesapeake Area Shelter Team, and the Burfoot House – Program for Homeless Single Women. The resource website provides a comprehensive website list of free help, support, and resources in South Hampton Roads. CAST – Chesapeake Area Shelter Team is the organizational arm that provides overnight winter shelter to men, women, and children in Chesapeake host churches post COVID-19. The AGAPE food programs under CAST serve food to homeless individuals in parking lots, local library, and in temporary City-funded hotels. The Burfoot House is a transitional home and comprehensive program designed for homeless single women to achieve self-sufficiency. 

Some of what you’ll do
Administrative Assistant Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support to the program directors and non-profit officers to ensure efficient operation.
  • Answers phone calls, schedules meetings and supports visitors.
  • Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning etc.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning administrative projects and expediting work results.
  • Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
  • Supports team by performing tasks related to organization and strong communication.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provides information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
